If you’ve never heard of the Anniversary Song/Dance - here’s how it works! The band invites all married couples onto the dance floor. After a bit of dancing, the emcee will ask all couples married one day or less to leave the dance floor (which is clearly the newly married couple)! Next, they’ll ask all couples who have been married 5 years or less to leave the dance floor. Then they’ll move up to 10 years, and so on. Eventually, you’re left with the longest-married couple or couples!
This is a wonderful addition to the reception if you’d like to honor the longest married couple, or couples, attending your wedding. Some newlyweds have grandparents or close family friends that have been married for 50 years plus, and they want to do something special! This is a great opportunity to incorporate your parents’ or grandparents’ wedding song, or another song that’s special to you and your relationship that you weren’t able to incorporate elsewhere in the reception. If you’re opting out of the bouquet toss, some couples choose to give the bride’s bouquet away to the longest married couple!
