For Ceremony music, you’ll typically choose three songs: the wedding party/family processional, the bride, groom, or couple processional, and the recessional. Processional songs refer to the music that is played at the beginning of the ceremony, as members of the wedding party, family and the bride, groom, or couple walk down the aisle to the front of the ceremony space.
Processional songs are often slower and sentimental, particularly if you’re incorporating Classical, Traditional, or Traditional-sounding music. Some of the most common requests The Metropolitan Players receive in this genre are Mendelssohn's Wedding March, Wagner's Wedding Chorus (“Here Comes the Bride”), and Pachelbel's Canon in D. All three are elegant, timeless selections that can be applied to any instrument easily.
